Developed in partnership with market research firm Statista, the USA Today ranking evaluates the nation's top 1,000 RIA firms across two key dimensions: peer and client recommendations gathered from an independent survey of more than 30,000 individuals, and both short-term and long-term growth in assets under management. Self-recommendations were not permitted, making every nomination a genuine reflection of the firm's reputation in the field.

The financial advisory landscape is crowded. There are thousands of firms across the country competing for your attention, your assets, and your trust. This recognition from USA Today and Statista is one of the more rigorous national rankings because it relies heavily on independent recommendations — from clients, from peers, and from industry experts who have observed these firms in action.
For us, inclusion on this list is validation of our core approach: stay independent, stay fiduciary, stay focused on long-term outcomes rather than short-term gains. We have never believed that wealth management should be complicated, expensive, or opaque. When clients understand what they own and why, and when they have an advisor who is legally required to act in their best interest, good financial outcomes become far more achievable.
The ranking was developed by USA Today in partnership with Statista, one of the world's leading market research firms. It identifies the top 1,000 RIA firms in the United States based on two equally important dimensions:
Recommendations: Collected through an independent survey of more than 30,000 financial advisors, clients, and industry experts. Firms could be recommended by clients and peers — but not by themselves.
AUM Development: Both short-term (12-month, January 2025–January 2026) and mid-term (2023–2026) growth in assets under management were analyzed using publicly available SEC data.
To be eligible, firms must be SEC-registered, maintain a clean disciplinary record, have a principal office in the United States, and manage more than $500,000 in AUM. Independent Solutions did not pay a fee to be considered or included on this list.

The ranking reflects survey data and AUM information collected through February 11, 2026. Rankings were determined by two components: (1) peer and client recommendations (20% weight), gathered via an independent survey of over 30,000 participants including clients, industry experts, and financial advisors; and (2) AUM growth (80% weight), based on SEC IAPD data reflecting short-term (2025–2026) and long-term (2021–2026) asset growth. Self-recommendations were prohibited. A total of 1,000 firms were selected nationally. Firms were required to be SEC- and/or state-registered for at least one year, maintain a U.S. principal office, have a clean disciplinary record, provide financial planning or portfolio management services, and manage at least $500,000 in AUM. ISWM did not pay a fee to be considered for or to receive this award. A licensing fee was paid to use related promotional materials.
